* 2003–present: Visiting Associate Professor of English, teaching creative writing and literary non-fiction courses; faculty advisor and writing specialist with the Academic Resource Center, the college’s writing and study skills lab.
* 1998–2002: Visiting Assistant Professor of English, teaching creative writing workshops in fiction, poetry, and literary non-fiction.

Short Stories:
* “Father Judge Run,” a short story, was published in connection with the exhibit “Some Southern Stories” curated by The Museum of Contemporary Photography, Chicago, Illinois, 1999. “Father Judge Run” was also published in the Oxford American, March/April 2001. It was selected for inclusion in New Stories from the South 2001 and was listed as one of the 100 Distinguished Stories in The Best American Short Stories of 2001.
* “Wings,” a short story, was published by the Georgia Review, Spring 2002. It is one of the works cited by the American Society of Magazine Editors in naming the Georgia Review a finalist in the fiction category for the 2002 National Magazine Award. In addition to the Georgia Review, the New Yorker and Book magazine were also named finalists in the fiction category.
* “Miniature Man,” a short story, was published by Blackbird, an online journal of literature and the arts, a joint venture by the Department of English at Virginia Commonwealth University and New Virginia Review, Inc.
