The Art of the Essay

The readings for the course will be essays by current and former students of this course as well as by well-known writers such as Virginia Woolf, George Orwell, E.B. White, James Baldwin, and Joan Didion.

Special Topics in Creative Writing: Linked Narratives

This course will examine how short stories connected by theme, setting, or character function both individually and as a unified whole. Students will create a series of linked narratives over the semester. Texts may include David Bezmoxqis' Natasha: And Other Stories, Alice Munro's Lives of Girls and Women, Sherwood Anderson's Winesburg, Ohio, and Joan Silver's Ideas of Heaven.
